John S. Munn, MD, FACS is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, Illinois. He completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Munn joined the staff of Advanced Vascular Surgery, where he has practiced for over twenty years. He enjoys practicing in the challenging field of vascular surgery.
His professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Michigan State Medical Society, Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine and the Midwest Vascular Surgery Society.
Dr. Munn resides in Portage, Michigan with his wife and three children. His hobbies include running, snow and water-skiing, and classical guitar.
Mark C. Rummel, MD, FACS is a graduate of the Medical College of Hampton Roads, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, Virginia. He completed his residency at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. He has a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA and a fellowship in endovascular surgery from the Arizona Heart Institute, Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Rummel joined Advanced Vascular Surgery in 2004. He has a special interest in the field of minimally invasive endovascular surgery. He looks for any reasonable alternative to open surgery when possible.
His professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Edward B. Diethrich Surgical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society and the Society for Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Rummel resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with his wife and two children. His hobbies include his active participation as a Colonel in the Medical Corp of the United States Army, spending time with his family and playing the guitar.
Daniel J. Johnston, MD is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan. He completed his general surgery residency at Wayne State as well. He completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. In addition, Dr. Johnston is certified in ACLS and has the American College of Surgeons Ultrasound Certification and American Board of Surgery Certification in general surgery.
He has received the Critical Care Reading Award, the Charles Huang Award for excellence in surgical clerkship, the REU Award from Michigan State University and was Dow Scholar at Alma College.
Dr. Johnston joined Advanced Vascular Surgery in 2009. He is dedicated to providing complete and comprehensive vascular care, providing a full spectrum of care, from aortic aneurysms to varicose veins. He states, "It is vital for a Vascular Specialist to be well versed in all aspects of Vascular Surgery in order to provide superior patient care."

Dr. Johnston resides in Portage, Michigan. His hobbies include cooking (a self-described "amateur chef") and boating.
Susan M. Bauman, MSN, NP is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. After 8 years of bedside nursing in critical care, she went back to school at The University of Michigan and received her Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She is also BLS and ACLS certified.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Susie worked in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Chapel Hill North Carolina in critical care. In 2009 she was awarded as the Nurse of the Year at the University Of North Carolina Hospital. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and Midwest Vascular Surgery Society.
Susie Joined Advanced Vascular Surgery in 2011. She has a special interest in caring for the dialysis (End Stage Renal Disease) patients, as well as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and the treatment of varicose veins.
Susie lives with her husband and family in Richland, Michigan. She enjoys cooking, and playing with her two dogs. Her hobbies include cycling and fitness. In the fall, she loves to attend Michigan Football games in Ann Arbor.
Sandy Shubnell, R.N., Sclerotherapist is a graduate of Bronson School of Nursing, Kalamazoo, Mi. She has been a Registered Nurse for 25 years and has worked the majority of her career in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. She also has a strong interest in forensic nursing, which led her to work in the past as a Corrections Nurse for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department and to have become a sexual assault nurse examiner.
Sandy has been with Advanced Vascular Surgery since 2011. She is the Venous Center Coordinator and Nurse Sclerotherapist. She received her training and certification in sclerotherapy from the National Laser Institute in Dallas, TX. She is also responsible for developing marketing strategies and advertising for the Advanced Venous Center.
Sandy resides in Scotts, MI, just outside of Vicksburg with her 2 dogs, Sammy and Pudge. She is the mother of 2 grown children. She enjoys living on the lake, spending time with her family and friends, boating, sunsets, and occasionally fishing off her dock.
